Hi, I’m Abby.
When my first baby was born in 2020, I thought I was prepared. What I hadn't prepared for was the profound loneliness that settled in during those early weeks, or how much I would change alongside my growing child. Despite living in a city of millions, I found myself isolated in a way I'd never experienced.
I kept thinking about my grandmother's stories of neighbors showing up with casseroles, of mothers gathering while babies napped. Where was that village now? And how could we create it without waiting for crisis to bring us together?
This question led me to Parker Palmer's Circles of Trust, Nonviolent Communication, and the research on matrescence—the profound identity transformation that happens when we become parents. Natal Commons grew from my belief that community isn't a nice-to-have during the postpartum period—it's essential medicine.
I'm not interested in creating another service that tells you how to parent or fixes your problems. Instead, I want to help you build the kind of relationships where you can discover your own answers, supported by people who truly see and care for you.
I live in Bed Stuy with my family of 4, and when I'm not facilitating circles, you'll probably find me at neighborhood playgrounds or writing my Substack newsletter .
